Charles Dickens in Whittingham
Written by: Geoff Hoskin
Date: 23.01.2012 21.59

On Saturday 11th February - Charles Dickens will be appearing at Whittingham Memorial Institute. February 2012 is the 200th anniversary of Dickens’ birth. Pip Utton will be Charles Dickens, in a one man show, talking about his life and reading from his works.
Charles Dickens entertains his audience – his “circle of affectionate friends” - with energy and enthusiasm. He re-lives what he believes were the happiest years of his life (the last 12!) and reads from his works.

This is not the dark, grave and serious Dickens of myth but a man full of energy, passion and fire. At the end of the evening you will have been richly entertained and feel as if you have actually spent time with Charles Dickens.

Pip Utton is a wonderful actor / storyteller who immediately puts you at ease and will keep you spellbound from start to finish.

Tickets £7 adults £4.50 children (pay on door) Box office 01665 574964 or email geoffhoskin@fsmail.net (to reserve seats)

I was at Glanton school in the late 40's. Does anyone have any school photos of that period? I was in at least one. Miss Bolton was my teacher and the other class was under Mr Pagan the head master who lived in the school house. Miss Bolton lived with her sister next to my family in South View Glanton. Thank you.
